Installation on hosted web site

Postby santanamadamon » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:54 am

Hello everyone,

I'm very new to eFront, this is my first installation. I am trying to install eFront on a hosted web server but I'm having some difficulty.

What I'm doing is uploading the entire eFront package (folders: backups, libraries, pear, upload, www, zend) to my hosted account inside a folder called eFront. I then navigate to the install.php file using the path www.domain.com/eFront/www/install/install.php. I get the initial "Welcome to eFront's installation wizard! Click on a button below to start." message w/ the New Installation button. I press the start button, wait about 2-3 minutes and then I receive the following error message.

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 90 seconds exceeded in \\hosts85441\home\users\web\accountnum\hostname\eFront\www\install\install.php on line 17

Looking at line 17, $path = "../../libraries/", i'm assuming it cant find/read this dir, but I'm really not sure.

I'm sure I'm not doing something right, any help would be greatly appreciated!

@santanamadamon: 90 seconds should usually be long enough for installation to complete, but if you want to try and extend that you can do so by creating a file called php.ini and putting the following in it:

Code: Select all
max_execution_time = 360

Copy the file to your efront\www\install directory. This will increase your maximum execution from 90 seconds to 360 seconds.

Sometimes it happens, that not all files are uploaded or not uploaded completely. This could be a reason for not executing the task, too.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I found 2 php.ini files inside eFront, one in www/install and one in www. I added in "max_execution_time = 360", and now I get a different error after about 2 minutes, so we may certainly be on the right track.

The error I am now receiving is;

The webpage at http://www.domain.com/eFront/www/instal ... php?step=1 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.

And what is strange is if I change the url from install.php?step=1 to install.php?step=2 the db data screen appears. It seems to only timeout on step 1.

I have also uploaded the installation files again in case some didn't get uploaded or not uploaded completely.

Please let me know if there is anything else I should try.

Thank you again for the responses.

are you entering localhost for the sql host name? should this be something different for your host provider? (who is your host?)

Could be helpful to post your configuration (OS, Browser etc.). And have a look in Google with Error 101, might have a solution there.

I got the installation to complete, I'm not sure if it will cause any problems the way I did it but I'm hoping everything will work fine.

I just skipped to step 2, entered in the db info which worked just fine and once that was complete I got the completed screen and have been able to login to eFront.

I hope there wasn't anything in step 1 that I had to configure/set that I would have missed going straight to step 2, but hopefully there wasn't and everything will run just fine.

Thank you for your help/suggestions, I greatly appreciate it!!
